Float Away Boat Races are coming NEXT WEEK!

What an amazing season we are having so far!
It's time to start gathering your cardboard - the BOAT RACES ARE COMING!
Next Wednesday, June 18th, is our annual Float Away Boat Races. Contestants can arrive with their boats at the pool at 6 pm, and we will plan to start races at 6:30 pm.
The rules for cardboard boat races are as follows:
- The main body of the boat must be made of cardboard
- The boat can be waterproofed with any variety of materials (duct tape, trash bags, saran wrap)
- Each boat may utilize up to three (3) pool noodles in any creative way to assist with floatation.
- The boat can have up to 4 drivers with each driver being required to remain in the boat for the duration of the race.
- The boat may not be used as a kick-board.
- The boats must be propelled using the driver's own body or bodies, or by the power of homemade devices. No commercial paddles, oars, flippers etc.
- Team members who are not driving the boat may stand on the side of the pool and use water guns or buckets in order to hinder the success of opposing teams. No water balloons please.
- The race will be 25 yards long, with as many preliminary heats as necessary.
- The final heat will contain no more than eight (8) boats. The winner of the final heat will be declared champion!
- Each team is to have a name for their boat as well as costumes for their team members. Creativity will be rewarded!
- Prizes will be awarded followed by root beer floats for all, supplied by swim team.
