Rocky Mountain Swim League
Hunters Hill Hawks are members of and are governed by the Rocky Mountain Swim League (RMSL) which is a recreational league.
There are 20 teams split into 4 divisions: A, B, C, and D. The Hunters Hill Hawks are in the "D" division and we will swim against five teams in five meets (including 1 Tri-Meet). Placement within a division is determined by a variety of factors (# of swimmers, etc.) which are discussed on the RMSL website.
RMSL rules that most directly affect swimmers are:
1. A swimmer must be a current member of the pool for which they are swimming as defined by their Homeowners Association by-laws.
2. The age category in which your child will swim is defined by your child’s age as of June 1st of the current year. Swimmers are 18 years or younger (minimum 4 years old as of June 1st).
3. The League requires swimmers to participate in at least 10 practices and 2 regular season meets to be eligible for Prelims and Finals.
Our 8 week season begins in late May with the first day of practice and will conclude in mid July with the Rocky Mountain Swim League finals and our end of season awards ceremony.
This year we will have five meets (5 Saturdays) . Additionally, there will be stroke clinics, team dinners, and social events throughout the season.
For our younger swimmers (4-6 yrs), we offer the Minnows program for those swimmers who are comfortable around the water, but may not be ready for competition. The purpose of the Minnows program is to ready those children for their first swim meet.
